Sometimes my heart hurts deeply and I find it difficult to form words, even words to speak in prayer. Times like these, I take such profound comfort in the words of Romans 8:26 which assures me “…the Spirit helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” I find myself on bended knees with my head bowed before the Lord and I surrender my heart’s burdens as best I can as I rest on the truth of these words.
Another verse that brings comfort and hope is found in Isaiah 11:9, “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.” I often find these words and as I ponder them I smile considering…when the knowledge of the Lord fills the earth, covering it to completion, then there will be no more arguing, no more strife, no more discord or disagreement. All selfishness will have ceased and those who remain will be filled with the goodness and the mercies of God. I long, I long for such a time, looking with faithful hope and anticipation to the perfect day that awaits those who share this longing of peace with me.
