Can’t get this off my mind…Love, the road that leads to peace…

Often times when I hear someone describing a difficult relationship, quarrelsome conversations, or any type of discord, I hear in my mind and heart the words, “Love One Another.” Those three simple words hold for us the solution to almost every problem we have with others. Goodness, can you even begin to imagine what this life would be like if we all loved one another? Heavenly, don’t you think, absolutely beautiful!

We find it written just this way, “Love one another” in several different places in scripture and written similarly many more times. There is a reason for the repetition we find…it is profoundly important! Two places that stood out to me this morning are as follows:

1Peter, 1:22 “Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently.” Hebrews 10:24, “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.”

Love is a testimony to the Spirit of Christ that dwells in us, and loving others may provoke them or cause them to respond in love to the Lord, to you, and to others. There is great power in the gift of love, in selfless acts that show another person your heart is tender toward them.

We are called to love as Christ loved us…”while we were yet sinners, He died for us”…So we are to love those who are not behaving in lovable ways, showing them the way toward peace. There is no peace in sin, in discord, conflict, or controversy, but there is enduring peace in LOVE. May we all find it, share it, and enjoy it today and always…

  1. jamie howell says:

Jn 15:9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.
Jn 15:10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
Jn 15:11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
Jn 15:12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
Jn 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
Jn 15:14 You are my friends if you do what I command.
Jn 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
Jn 15:16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
Jn 15:17 This is my command: Love each other.

These are the words of our Savior and Lord. I just wish they were in red. With love comes joy, and in joy there has to be peace. Thanks Andrea.
